COUNTRY CHRISTMAS QUILT
Workshop Information
Available Dates
It’s always fun to have a Christmas quilt to drape around the house over the festive season. There are a number of different techniques in this quilt – flying geese, half-square triangles and a very impressive twisted border. There is nothing difficult and if some cutting could be done before class we can make good progress during the day.
Recommended for an intermediate quilter because you would need to do some cutting before class. If a competent beginner felt confident with the cutting at home then the techniques to sew the quilt are not difficult.
REQUIREMENTS
Sewing machine with full bobbin
Normal sewing kit
Rotary cutting equipment
Fabric requirements for the Country Christmas (54in x 54in):
- 30cms dark red for stars
- 30cms medium red for inner border and twist border
- 20cms light red for pinwheels
- 60ms green for twist border and lower part of trees
- two fat eighths (9in x 21in) lighter greens for upper part of trees
- fat eighth (9in x 21in) brown for tree trunk
- 2m background fabric (we used crisp white)
- 50cms binding fabric
The sewing techniques in this quilt are not difficult but there is quite a bit of cutting to be done. So……unless we want to spend the morning cutting, it would be really helpful if at least the background fabric could be cut before class.
When you book you will receive the complete cutting instructions to these Requirements. They look a bit daunting so apologies for that. Remember to label all your cut pieces so there is no confusion.
So – cut your background fabric first and that is out of the way. Then cut your green fabric as we will start sewing the trees next.
I look forward to seeing you on the day and if you have any questions before class please contact me on pam_lintott@hotmail.com.
